Amazing sound

Solid sound, but update the firmware first!

I received this product yesterday, and excitedly paired it with my Google Pixel 6 phone. When I tried to play music, there was horrible static every second interrupting the music. Completely unlistenable. Confused, I re-initiated the Bluetooth connection. Same issue. I toggled Bluetooth off and on, power-cycled the speaker, and a few other things. No dice. I thought maybe the speaker was physically damaged at this point and I'd have to return it.

Playing a hunch, I paired it with my iPad. No issues! Excellent sound. Next I tried my wife's OnePlus 8 Pro phone. No issues, great sound. I then opened the SoundCore app on my phone and used it to update the firmware on the Motion Boom Plus - and voila, now I have excellent sound when paired with my Pixel 6.

The thing is, most people won't think to update the firmware on a Bluetooth speaker - so I predict some negative reviews and returns of the product. Anker should have done a better job testing their product with various phones because the Pixel 6 is a popular phone.

That issue aside, there's a lot to like about this product. The sound quality is quite excellent for the size - lots of bottom end, perhaps too much for some people, but you can turn off the bass boost with a button. And the SoundCore app lets you assign different EQs. It uses USB-C to charge, and doesn't have the silly limitation of some other Anker products where it will only charge via a USB-A to USB-C connector. The material quality is high, and it feels solid and great for outdoor use.

All in all this is a solid product from what I can tell so far.

Major upgrade over the original Motion Boom!

So for about a year I been a hardcore Soundcore/Anker fan. I have their earphones, headphones, and their charging cables + portable batteries. This company is just coming up and they are super underrated! This speaker is stupid loud and powerful for the price you pay. JBLs that cost 2x this dont even match it. Comparing this to the original motion boom I say its worth the upgrade! The addition to the tweeters definitely helped this speaker get better highs and lows which is something the original motion boom couldve used more of! If anyone comes here and writes a negative review just ignore it. I bought this speaker on day 1 and got it on day 2 after release. First impression is I just sold my original motion boom to my roommate. This thing is a monster so swipe your credit card and just buy it.

Literally a plus size of the Motion Boom

I am a Soundcore enthusiast. I own over 6 speakers from them, and I have headphones from them. This speaker is by far the best, followed by the regular Motion Boom.

Soundcore is no ordinary speaker brand. Their products are all well below mainstream brands in terms of price, but on par in terms of performance. Motion Boom Plus is no exception. The bass is deep (holds strong down to 40-50hz), the treble is crystal clear, and it can all be finely tuned with the 9 Band EQ in the Soundcore app.

I can't speak on the battery life yet as I have only just received the speaker, but if it's like any other Soundcore speaker it should meet the claims.

The speaker can get quite loud, and retains a fair amount of bass even in those high volumes, though the treble does seem to compress a bit, but this can be counteracted by increasing it with the custom EQ.

If the bass is turned up too high on the EQ, there is some distortion, though this distortion will likely disappear most of the way as the break in period passes.
